37. “Please Don’t Bury Me” is a song John Prine. With three kids in tow, we made frequent 14-hour trips from Richmond to Detroit to visit family. John Prine supplied the soundtrack for most of these trips. His albums provide the best sing-along songs, and “Please Don’t Bury Me” was a kid favorite. I think it maybe because they got to sing out, “…and kiss my ass goodbye” without being reprimanded. I’m not surprised that the song is still a favorite with the grandkids. Now, if The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would only recognize what John’s fans have known for 50 years.
