Although Joni Mitchell didn’t attend the festival, she wrote the song, ‘Woodstock”, which tells the story of a festival attendee making the trek to Max Yasgur’s farm to sing in a rock n’ roll band, camp out on the land and set his soul free. The song was first recorded by Cosby Stills Nash and Young in 1970 and released later by Joni as part of her Ladies of the Canyon album.
