114. “Shiver Me Timbers” is a song by Tom Waits. Although there is a lot of speculation about the song’s meaning with some believing that it is about death (as the final passage) “Well I’m leaving my family / I’m leaving all my friends / My body’s at home / But my heart’s in the wind”. But since Waits doesn’t seem to have commented on its meaning, I choose to believe that it is simply a beautiful song about a sailor’s passion to be on the sea rather than on land,” To be up in the crow’s nest singing my saying / Shiver me timbers let’s all sail away”.
