143 “Sing for Your Supper” is song by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Lorenz Hart. The song debuted in the 1938 Broadway musical The Boys from Syracuse. The version I chose to interpret is by the Mamas and Papas with the lead sung by the incredible Mama Cass. The bird is the California Scrub-jay, and the abstracted flowers are California poppies. “Sing for your supper, and you’ll get breakfast / Songbirds always eat.”
