The genius that was Ray Charles recorded the song in 1962, and was featured on Charles’ Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. The song is ranked No. 164 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, No. 49 on CMT‘s “100 Greatest Songs in Country Music”, and in 1963 Charles won a Grammy for his version for Best Rhythm & Blues Recording.
